Wow, so this was the “special surprise” they were talking about when they released their new single, Echoplex, for free via iLike: as a reward for their fans’ loyalty, Nine Inch Nails are giving away yet another album, called Slip, absolutely free.

The album consists of 10 tracks; it’s 43:45 minutes in length, and it’s available for download in a variety of formats: MP3, lossless (FLAC or M4A) or even 24/96, which means higher-than-CD quality. Downloaders will also receive a PDF with artwork and credits, while CD and vinyl versions will be available in July.

Once again, NiN prove that they’re serious about changing the way they communicate with their fans and distribute their music. The fact that they’re giving their music away in extreme high quality formats proves they aren’t holding back on their promises. I can only wish them best of luck.
